Our Story

From Game Backends
to Agentic Engineering.

Founded in Vancouver, Canada, we've spent 15 years building high-scale, high-concurrency systems for the world's leading game companies and startups. Now we bring that same engineering depth — amplified by AI — to every business we work with.

Where We Started

Built on High-Scale Game Engineering

Hatch Studio was founded in 2011 building custom software for leading game companies — Electronic Arts, Epic Games, LucasArts, Krafton, and others. Our specialty was high-scale, high-concurrency, high-performing game services: the infrastructure that millions of players depend on without ever seeing.

That work demanded a specific kind of engineering — systems that could handle massive concurrent loads, fail gracefully, and perform under pressure. It shaped how we think about architecture, quality, and what "production-grade" actually means.

Alongside gaming, we also became the technical team for startups that had ambitious product visions but no in-house engineers. We brought the same standard of technical excellence to those engagements — building real, scalable products from the ground up.

The Shift

From Early AI Experiments to Agentic Engineering

Our first interaction with AI was back in early 2021, experimenting with OpenAI's open-source GPT-2. It was early, limited, but it gave us a clear signal: AI was going to reshape the industry.

By 2024, coding models had matured enough for us to start leveraging AI directly in our development workflow. And with the latest advancements in agentic coding models, the picture became unmistakable — Agentic Engineering is fundamentally more efficient and will change how software is built.

But efficiency without architectural judgment produces fragile software. What makes Agentic Engineering powerful is the combination: experienced software architects who understand system design, paired with AI agents that execute at speed. The architect provides the thinking. The agents provide the throughput. The result is quality, high-performing software that fits exactly what a business needs — and becomes a strategic asset they own.

Why Agentic Engineering Matters

Architect-Led

An experienced software architect leads every engagement — setting the system design, making trade-off decisions, and ensuring architectural integrity.

Agent-Accelerated

AI coding agents handle the high-volume execution work — code generation, testing, documentation — under human oversight at every gate.

Purpose-Built

Software is built to fit exactly what your business needs. No workarounds, no compromises, no one-size-fits-none limitations.

Owned by You

Every line of code, every data point, every deployment artifact belongs to you. Software becomes a strategic asset, not a recurring liability.

The Platform

AE Pilot: Where Architects
and Clients Collaborate.

AE Pilot is our proprietary platform for Agentic Engineering. It orchestrates the best coding agents available and provides a uniform interface for collaboration between our experienced architects and our clients.

Full visibility into what's being built, real-time progress, and direct communication with the architect leading your project. No black boxes. No handoffs that disappear into a queue. You see everything, and you have a voice at every stage.

Best-in-Class Agents

Leverages the most capable coding agents, selected for each task.

Unified Interface

One platform for architects and clients to collaborate in real time.

Full Transparency

See what every agent produces and what your architect approves.

Your Software

Everything built on the platform is owned entirely by you.
